Alexander Arner

My name is Alexander Arner, I am 16 years old and currently live in the beautiful country known as Germany.

Who Am I?

While I have yet to completely discover that for myself, I will share here a couple things that can hopefully give you glimpse of me:

Nature~

One of the many things I enjoy and care for is nature. The peace, wonder and beauty across the world never cease to amaze me. Whether it be rock climbing, hiking, jumping off waterfalls or having some solo-time/meditation in a peaceful place, nature is a gift to me.

Some of my favorite places:

  • Tuscany, Italy

  • Bavaria/Austria

  • Holland

  • St. George

  • Germany

Philomath & Philosopher~

“Reading without thinking is nothing, for a book is less important for what it says than for what it makes you think.”

Honestly, I can take little credit for the development of this joy. Loving parents, an amazing school and little lessons along the way have helped me gain a love for learning and wisdom. Some of my favorite subjects to study are Philosophy and Psychology.

Some of my favorite books:

  • Les Miserables

  • Walking Drum

  • Bendigo Shafter

  • My Name is Asher Lev

  • The Chosen

  • John Adam

  • The Hiding Place

  • Left to Tell

  • Ghandi's Autobiography

Random Information:
Yes, I am a twin.
Can you guess which one I am?

Bucket List~

  • Serve at Mother Teresa's Kolkata center

  • Read 1500+ books

  • Give a TED talk

  • Go on part of Islamic pilgrimage

  • Create some type of organization

  • Run a 5:00-minute mile

  • Publish a book

  • Bench 300 Ibs

  • Hike Machu Picchu

  • Go to Jerusalem

  • To be continued...

One of my favorite poems:

Williamsburg and Beyond~

Williamsburg~

When I first came to Williamsburg Academy my freshman year, I was one whose main concern lied in image and had little idea of what I wanted or where I was going. Today, my greatest desire is to become a good man; to shine in the world and learn as much as I can through book and experiance. This school has changed my life and been one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me.

Beyond~

I have quite the few years ahead of me. I will be working at a camp for most of this summer and then walking a 500 mile pilgrimage with my brother and cousin. Once that finishes, I will have a semester of college around the corner and a church mission following that. Beyond that, I have yet to decide and discover. Alas, as one of my favorite characters would say, "Yol Bolsun!"
