Hello. I'm a small town-boy, born and raised in Riggs, Missouri, a place where the most exciting thing to do is watch the corn and soybeans grow and going to the Saturday night bluegrass jam. I love debating geopolitics, horse-back riding, listening to jazz, hiking, reading classics, trail biking, wood carving, kayaking, flying planes, serenading on the piano, teaching, and standing in awe of nature.
I've been really blessed to have incredible mentors and organizations along the way. My dozens of scout leaders, and especially my Dad, helped me achieve my Eagle Scout at the age of 13
After scouts, I was trained by incredible veterans and volunteers with the US Air Force Auxiliary. There were some tears at basic training, but fun and meaningful successes as well, such as cadet officer commission.
Several friends and mentors also worked with me in starting a youth inter-denominational service group. Over 1,000 service hours later, it's been an amazing trip.
My piano teacher not only taught me the love of classical and jazz playing, but gave me hundreds of opportunities to serve the community. including jamming with these cool guys:
She also helped me fight for the last remaining wild spaces in a nearby city.
I can't thank Adam Hailstone for all of his patience and mentoring through the years. I came to Williamsburg at the age of 11, young, impeteous, and idealistic. He's stayed with me, pushing me past my boundaries all along the way. He has really gone from a teacher, to a hero, to a mentor, to a friend. Thanks for the years of opportunity, Adam
