Hello, everyone, my name is Malorie Robbins. I am one of the many unique seniors at Williamsburg Academy. I was born and raised in Stevensville, Montana. I love hiking, singing, gardening, anthropology, reading, history, theater, SNL, traveling, playing piano, eating pie and ice cream, science fiction/fantasy novels and movies, hunting, backpacking/camping, and forcing my friends to have fun even though they are big party-poopers. I started attending Williamsburg my sophomore year and am so excited to carry all the knowledge it has given me into my adult life.
I have grown so much at Williamsburg. I have acquired the many skills such as how to humble myself enough to recognize that I am often wrong and need help, it has helped me learn to organize my life and thoughts, it has shown me to always have an open mind and heart in addition to so many other life-altering lessons. Without Williamsburg, I would still be the angry, pessimistic, unorganized, unhappy, and ignorant person I was at age 15. The experience I have had at here has been an uphill battle, being as I started a year late and was being educated in a completely different style. Yet, because I sacrificed my summers to do classes and have taken more than the suggested courses each semester I will be graduating on time in addition to being a better, smarter person for it. The way I have learned to work and continually push myself, while also creating balance in my life and how I have been able to learn great leadership skills has undoubtedly made all my hard work worth it in so many ways. Due to all I have learned from this school, I am currently serving on several teen committees in my community and am serving as the Student Body Vice President of Williamsburg Academy, and have also been offered a position as an Assistant Director of Activities at Southern Utah University for this 2016-2017, school year. I have been able to do so many amazing things throughout my high school experience but I won’t bore you with all my obviously awesome achievements, so let us move on.
After graduating this May, I will remain in Stevensville and work to try and earn a little more dough before I leave home. Soon after all that boring nonsense, I will be leaving to attend Southern Utah University in early August. SUU is the outdoor school of the nation, it will be the first school to be sponsored by REI, it is home to the Shakespeare Festival, and it relies heavily on student leadership. So I should fit right in. I have received two scholarships from SUU and am so excited to help with the pioneering of their Anthropology department and Museum Studies department. It is a great school and a great place. It will be, without a doubt, an amazing, growing and learning experience for me and as I said before, I will be one of a few select students who will be serving as Assistant Directors of Activities in the Southern Utah University Student Association group (SUUSA). This is one of the most involved and influential student groups in Utah, so I should be pretty involved in everything being as I will have the opportunity to help improve student life and also be able to plan amazing on-campus parties for the student body of one of the fastest growing universities in Utah.
I can’t know for certain what my life will end up looking like in the future, but I do know that it will be extraordinarily exciting thanks to Williamsburg and all I have learned from my short time here.
Thanks so much for reading!
Best wishes,
Malorie Robbins
